Malaysia Updates: Travel and More

Greetings again from sunny Malaysia. 2022 chugs along and there are big things on the horizon.

We’ve been doing more traveling with the kids, including two trips to this lovely beach condo in the city of Port Dickson.

The ocean was picture perfect and the kids had fun playing in the sand.

We saw a beautiful sunset and Leila pointed out the moon.

Su and I also took the kids for a train ride into Kuala Lumpur. We rented a room in the city for a few days and visited the big aquarium downtown.

The whole thing was a learning experience. Keeping the kids occupied for a few hours on the train gave some insight into what our long flights are going to be like.

We had been planning a trip to the island of Langkawi, but it never quite materialized. We still have one MAJOR excursion in the works when we load everyone into an airplane to move back to the States.

Yes that day is coming. We’re inches from the goal line with our immigration visas and I hope April will be the month we finally come home. I’ll have an update when our plans are more concrete.

In the meantime, I made some progress on a personal front: I finished my book!

Yes I have a completed draft of the next Great American Novel. Sixty three chapters. One hundred thousand words. It’s a humdinger. Took me over two years to write and it’s still kind of mind blowing that I pulled it off.

Now I have to do a bit of cleaning and review, but it should be ready for beta readers before long. A few people expressed interest in the past, and if you want to give some feedback before I publish let me know.

A little background on the story: It’s an action/adventure novel called, The Ballad of Clay Moore.

Here’s my working tagline:

“When a mysterious plane lands in his backyard, retired rancher Clay Moore stumbles upon a secret that could change the world.”

There’s a lot of action, but it’s not your typical thriller. I have a hard time shoehorning into a particular genre. (Maybe you can help with that.) But if you like wild twists, rich characters, and a bit of cowboy charm, I think you’ll enjoy the ride.

I’m also planning to redesign my website soon. It’s been a few years and I think it’s time for a fresh look as I approach literary stardom. I’ll be looking for feedback on that as well.

Finally, I have some pictures of the kids all dressed up for an engagement event a few weeks ago.

Little heartbreakers.

Congrats to my brother-in-law Alip on his impending marriage. We wish you all the best in your new life and new house.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Big things coming up. Stay tuned!

  1. I can’t wait to read your book! Granted I’m the odd family member who hasn’t finished a book in years, but you will change that. The kids need to dress up more often…. Adorable.

  2. How exciting! What wonderful adventures and memories you are creating! Praying your visas come through and you are able to travel to the us! I want a signed copy, the books sounds amazing! Proud of you!

  3. Have really enjoyed your updates from Malaysia and watching your family develop and grow together. It’s so different from most Americans……well done. I look forward to meeting all of you sometime this summer. I’m certain your mom is very so excited!
    Best wishes,

    Mike
