Babies: A Montage

My kids are growing up fast.

Leila just hit five months and Adam is a year and a half. Where does the time go?

They’re both sweet and adorable and full of new skills. Adam knows at least thirty words by now. Some English, some Malay. He toddles around like a boss and tells stories all day.

Leila can roll onto her tummy and grabs anything you put in front of her.

O hello there…

They’re both stars in the making, and I feel blessed to have such beautiful, healthy kids.

I mean look at this:

Absolute heartbreakers. The power of good genes.

I’m glad they both got Mommy’s smile. They’re also lots of fun.

Peek-a-boo!

Adam is very fond of his sister. He calls her “Yaya” and likes to kiss her feet. Sometimes when she spits up he will grab a wipe and clean her mouth. He even helps with bottles.

Two kids keep everyone busy, but I can see they’ll be close and entertain each other growing up together.

Adam is a force of nature. A high-energy, high-IQ dynamo. He likes books and games and toys and music and he’s always getting into something. He’s a type-A kid for sure.

They see me rollin’…

Leila is more mellow but always quick to smile. She likes to be held and likes to watch her brother. Here she is passed out in a restaurant.

We now live with Su’s parents full-time. The setup has been good for everyone, and it’s nice to be around family while the pandemic keeps so many of us apart. My kids will always have an interesting backstory, spending the early parts of their life in rural Malaysia.

Kampung Boy
Who needs pants?

We’re still planning a move to America, but the timeframe is hazy. I’m working on immigration stuff, and Covid adds a layer of chaos to all the logistics.

We’ll get there eventually.

For now, we’re content to lie low in the kampung and enjoy the experience while it lasts. Su can spend time with her parents. They can spend time with their grandkids. I can finish my novel (It’s coming, I promise) and cut my teeth as a father planning a move abroad.

I’ll keep you updated as we get closer. Until then, I’m living the good life.

I hope you are too.

  3. I would love to hear one of Adam’s stories too! Eric, what beautiful children, a truly beautiful family, and I am thrilled you all can spend time with Su’s parents and family, very special indeed. I can’t wait to see the babies in person. Yes, lay low during this pandemic and you are in a very special place to do that. Good luck on getting everything together to head back to the states.
